Safety ISO26262

MPS for Master Power Safety

ACTIA launches production of its new Electronics Control Unit (ECU).
ACTIA has invested heavily to develop the MPS range, its new generation of on-board ECUs. These products are in response to manufacturers’ requirements concerning both ISO26262functional safety and cybersecurity for their new vehicles.

The first results of the safety and cybersecurity approach


ACTIA is developing a new generation of on-board architecture, ACTI-Mux 4. This architecture, based on off-the-shelf products, is intended for road vehicle markets, particularly buses and coaches, and also any vehicle that requires electric actuators, such as HGVs or special trucks.

MPS for Master Power Safety

MPS 33 and MPS 48 are the first two products in this generation. These on-board ECUs allow a vehicle’s electrical functions to be controlled. Their defining feature is that they are able to meet the regulatory cybersecurity standards in addition to the ISO 26262 Functional Safety standard required by manufacturers.

At the start of the year, ACTIA MPS received confirmation of compliance from Bureau Veritas, the first step towards certification.

The project’s complexity and ambition make it a real feat of engineering.
After buses and coaches, the project is currently being implemented for Safety and ISO 26262 compliance for HGVs, and ISO 21434 is being implemented for special machinery, renewing the electronic architecture of the ACTI-Ways range dedicated to its demanding markets.

Meeting safety function requirements: ISO 26262


The ISO 26262 standard makes it possible to comply with the directives of the Global Safety Regulation, adopted by the European Union in November 2019 with the objective of reducing risks of road accidents.

It is a methodology and a best practice guide that provides a framework for developing the safety functions of a vehicle architecture and the components responsible for these functions.

Although this standard is not binding, it is nonetheless becoming the standard required by manufacturers, in the same way as for environmental standards. It enables top performance and guarantees customers reliability and longevity for their architecture.


A new development platform


Development of the MPS range is based on a new software development platform: CESAM. This tool, developed in the ACTIA design offices, ensures consistency and globalisation of software solutions. Amongst other things, the platform also allows software developments to be managed, updated and maintained. It ensures significantly improved performance in the development phases for all of the ACTIA group’s “real-time” solutions: ECUs, telematics modules or HMI.

The new ACTI-Mux 4 architecture is compatible with the previous generation of ACTIA architecture, which opens up new horizons for the group’s long-standing customers. Multiple manufacturers have already adopted the solution, reaffirming their trust in ACTIA solutions.
